Children and Families
Overview
The ‘Children and Families’ programme, previously known as ‘Start Well’, focuses on fostering strong, caring relationships and providing responsive support for all our families, within the neighbourhoods of Salford.
Our team ensures a nurturing environment that promotes the social and emotional well-being of children and contributes to a more caring and connected community.
Yogurt Pots Childcare
Part of our “Children and Families” programme includes Yogurt Pots Childcare. Yogurt Pots is rated “Good” by Ofsted and provides provision from 2 years old to 11 years old (last year of primary school) located within Sports Village, Littleton Road.
Wellbeing Matters
Wellbeing Matters is the Social Prescribing approach connecting individuals to the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector to support wellbeing. Wellbeing Matters provides social prescribing support through a Community Connector to enable people to access non-medical wellbeing support within their neighbourhood. Wellbeing Matters is led by Salford CVS and Inspiring Communities Together hosts the Community Connector for the Swinton neighbourhood.
Activities
We offer a variety of activities for children and families, in addition to Yogurt Pots and Wellbeing Matters.
Stay and Play
Stay & Play sessions are held on a Monday morning (Term Time only) between 9.30 – 10.30am and are free for families with pre-school children and babies to attend. There is no need to book, just come along and join in.
Nursery
Nursery term time provision is provided for children aged 2 years to 4 years of age from 9.00am to 3.00pm, with morning, afternoon, and full-day sessions available at competitive rates.
After School Club
After School Club supports families beyond school hours. Our low cost sessions run from 3.00pm to 5.00pm.
Children are currently collected by our staff team from St Pauls C of E Primary School and Lower Kersal Primary School in Salford. We encourage an activity travel scheme and therefore children are expected to walk from both these schools to our setting at Sports Village.
Children are provided with a healthy snack and engage in planned activities like arts & crafts, outdoor exploration, and team games. We use Tapestry, a secure system, to share activity updates and photos with parents/carers.
Holiday Club
Holiday club during school holidays is available for children who are Primary School age
5 years – 11 years of age.
Sessions run from 9am to 5pm and provide a fun engaging space for children to take part in both physical and social activities. This is not a school environment, but we recognise that children enjoy some element of structure.
Sessions include nature walks in our local green spaces, accessing our own outdoor classroom, arts and crafts, just dance sessions. Simple cooking activities, and playing board games. Programme changes each holiday.
