About Us

Inspiring Communities Together is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) operating in Charlestown and Lower Kersal. The Organisation operates as a community anchor for the neighbourhood alongside delivery of services across Salford and beyond. ICT has office and delivery space within the Innovation Forum working alongside another Community organisaton called People's Voice Media.

The organisation operates through a consultation (our governance document) and has a membership of local residents and organisations who all want to make a difference to the neighbourhood.

Our board of trustees is made up of local residents and workers elected by our membership each year at our AGM (this happens in October). Alongside elected trustees we also allocate places on the board to representatives nominated by Salford City Council and Salford University. We also invite others to support our work and we currently have advisors from Salix Homes and Salford Council Regeneration team and neighbourhood management.

If you would like to become a member then please visit the membership area to complete an application form.

Community Alliance's definition of a community anchor organisation:

Community anchors are independent community-led organisations. they are multi-purpose and provide holistic solutions to local problems and challenges, bringing out the best in people and agencies. they are there for the long term, not just the quick fix. community anchors are often the driving force in community renewal.

The roles a community anchor organisation can play may include:

  • Providing services
  • Attracting resources
  • Acting as an advocate for the community
  • Supporting community organisations
  • Strengthening community participation
